State Street Anoints Co-Equity CIOs

December 30, 2003 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - State Street Research & Management Company has created two new chief investment officer positions in the equity department and tapped an executive for each.

According to a news release, C. Kim Goodwin, chief investment officer equities, appointed Jeffrey Lindsey to chief investment officer – growth investing and Peter Zuger to chief investment officer – value investing.

Lindsey will oversee the firm’s $8.9-billion growth business, which includes small-, mid- and large-cap core and growth products. Zuger, meanwhile, will oversee $6.9 billion in assets, which includes the firm’s value business, as well as energy products. The promotions are effective January 1, 2004.

Lindsey, 41, joined the firm in September 2002 as managing director and head of the large-cap growth team with direct portfolio management responsibilities for several institutional accounts and the State Street Research Legacy Fund. He joined State Street from Putnam Investments, where he served as managing director and director of concentrated growth products, and as a large cap growth portfolio manager. Lindsey holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce and finance from University of Virginia as well as an MBA from Emory University.

Zuger, 55, joined State Street Research in 1998 as a senior vice president and head of the firm’s large and mid-cap value teams and portfolio manager for the State Street Research Large-Cap Value Fund and State Street Research Mid-Cap Value Fund. Prior to joining State Street Research, Zuger was vice president and lead portfolio manager for three funds with American Century Investment Management. Zuger earned an MS from Virginia Commonwealth University and an AB from The College of William and Mary.
