Trying to provide services for less money is a challenge, especially to the smaller recordkeepers, says Kelli Davis, executive vice president at Hub Retirement and Wealth Management. “I think this will lead to more consolidation, and it’s an issue I bring up with my clients that are considering a recordkeeping search: A smaller recordkeeper may sell, leading to future changes.” Davis says she and her clients also evaluate a recordkeeper’s size and capabilities in terms of implementing the SECURE [Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement] 2.0 provisions. “I’ve seen several smaller recordkeepers be apprehensive [regarding] implementing some of the features.”—Rebecca Moore
