TRIVIAL PURSUITS: Whose Portrait Is on the $10,000 Bill?
February 5, 2013 - The $10,000 bill was the largest domination of U.S. currency ever in public circulation—from 1900 to 1946.

The portrait on the $10,000 bill is not a U.S. president.
Although the original 1900 series bill featured President Andrew Jackson on the front and was blank on the reverse, the 1918—and any subsequent—series featured a portrait of Salmon P. Chase on the front and a depiction called “The Embarkation of the Pilgrims” on the reverse.
Chase was Abraham Lincoln’s Secretary of Treasury and played a big role in the establishment of the national banking system. Lincoln later appointed Chase to the position of Chief Justice on the U.S. Supreme Court.
