The Hartford Courant reports that the lawsuit claims National Carpentry Contractors Inc. of Stamford promised to pay workers $13 an hour, but only paid them $10 an hour. The suit also says the company failed to pay overtime above 40 hours per week, and many workers routinely worked 65 and 70 hours a week, according to the news report.
The workers claim the company owes them between two and eight weeks of wages, and the suit asks for double their unpaid wages as well as attorney fees and costs.
Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal who said he would support the workers said in the news report that the workers are still protected by state and federal labor laws though they are undocumented.
