VALIC Kept on as Fairfax County Schools 403(b) Vendor

July 21, 2009 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - VALIC, provider of retirement plan services to public K-12 schools, and higher education and health care institutions, has been selected by Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) as one of three 403(b) plan providers.

A VALIC press release said FCPS reduced its number of 403(b) plan providers in half, from six to three, and of its previous plan providers, VALIC was the only one for which a relationship was continued.

VALIC provides FCPS plan participants onsite service with professional financial advisers, and also provides plan participants with a suite of Internet support services, including online financial planning and education, online seminar registration, online enrollment, and the ability to aggregate information for all potential sources of retirement income into a single location. The features offer FCPS participants the option to manage their retirement savings programs online, according to the announcement.

Fairfax County Public Schools is the thirteenth largest school system in the nation, and the largest public school system in Virginia and in the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area, with 35,000 educators and support personnel.
