Watson Wyatt Spins Off Spring Consulting

March 29, 2004 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Watson Wyatt LLP has spun off its Boston-based insurance and financial services strategic consulting group with a management buyout led by two senior managers.

The new organization, Spring Consulting Group LLC, focus on providing strategic consulting services to institutions operating in the health care, retirement, disability, life and captive insurer markets.   Spring Consulting will be led by former Watson Wyatt partners Karin Landry and John Cassell , according to a news release.

“This structural change allows us to operate more broadly than Watson Wyatt’s core actuarial focus, while still benefiting from a close working relationship with a leading global insurance and financial services consulting firm,” Landry said in the release.

Philip Brook, Watson Wyatt’s global head of insurance and financial services consulting said in the release the new arrangement would not directly impact the day-to-day relationships with current Watson Wyatt clients.   Further, while the two groups will be separate entities, he expects a “close collaborative relationship between Watson Wyatt and Spring Consulting Group.”
