Few Workers Plan a Week or More of Holiday-Time Vacation

between Thanksgiving and New Year's may mean lots of holidays
and good cheer, but for many it will not mean taking
vacation.

That was the result of a new survey by OfficeTeam, a Menlo Park, California-based professional staffing service, according to a news release. Forty-two percent of workers polled said they would not be taking any more time off between Thanksgiving and New Year’s in addition to company-scheduled holidays.
According to the release, the poll found:
- 17% will take one or two days off.
- 15% will take three or four days.
- 13% will take five or six days.
- 12% will take seven or more days.
“With the year coming to a close, employees may have already used up their vacation days,” said Diane Domeyer, executive director of OfficeTeam, in the news release. “But other professionals sometimes get so wrapped up in work at the end of the year completing projects that they only take the company holidays they are granted.”
Observed Domeyer: “Everyone needs time away from work to recharge and avoid burnout.”
The California-based professional staffing service commissioned the phone survey of 493 full- or part-time office workers from October 25 to November 5, 2007.
