Mid-Week July 4th Holiday Means No Long Weekend

June 12, 2007 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The majority of employers in California say they are not going to give workers a longer holiday because the Fourth of July falls in the middle of the work week, a recent survey suggests.

The survey by Employers Group in Los Angeles found that 55.7% of employers will not give their workers a five-day holiday weekend and 92.4% say they will only grant Wednesday as a day off with pay.

About 70% of employers said they will approve vacation requests if an employee has earned time off and approximately 54% of the employers said they will be flexible and relax policies for time-off requests, both based on staffing needs.
