AARP: SC Johnson Best Employer for Workers Over 50

September 25, 2007 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Wisconsin-based SC Johnson topped the AARP's 2007 List of Best Employers for Workers Over 50, ousting Mercy Health System of Janesville, Wisconsin from its lead spot.

According to a press release about the rankings, the consumer goods company offers a range of flexible work arrangements that enable workers to balance their professional and personal lives.

The company provides generous health benefits, including an onsite medical center and various wellness, fitness and recreation programs; an onsite education program that provides lifelong learning and college credits; and paid sabbaticals to experienced employees. The company also offers comprehensive financial benefits and retirement planning tools.

The not-for-profit Mercy Health System took the second place spot in this year’s ranking. AARP noted the company’s variety of alternative work arrangement, including nursing “float” options (working at different facilities or departments), and “seasonal work” programs that allow employees to go on leave for lengthy periods while maintaining benefits eligibility.
