BlueChoice Launches Health Plans for SC Small Businesses

October 12, 2011 (PLANSPONSOR.com) – BlueChoice HealthPlan of South Carolina is offering 10 new insurance plans for small businesses.

The new offerings include a range of employee deductibles and copayment amounts, three high-deductible health plans, and some lower-cost options.

The plans are part of BlueChoice HealthPlan’s CarolinaADVANTAGE suite of products, which are designed for South Carolina businesses with 50 or fewer employees. Enrollment is open now, with an effective date of November 1, 2011.

“The flexible design options are in direct response to requests from employer groups,” said Mary Mazzola Spivey, President of BlueChoice HealthPlan, in a press release.

All of the plans cover primary and specialty care, preventive care, hospital services, prescriptions, durable medical equipment and supplies, home health and hospice care, mental health and substance abuse treatment, and more. Members can visit any doctor they choose, with no referral from a primary care physician required.

At no extra cost, members can participate in one or more of BlueChoice HealthPlan’s 24 Great Expectations for health programs. These programs provide healthy members guidelines for staying well, and they help members with chronic conditions or diseases learn to better manage their illnesses.
