Boeing CFO Moves to Lucent

April 24, 2000 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Lucent Technologies announced Monday that Deborah Hopkins, chief financial officer at Boeing, will become its CFO, effective immediately. Hopkins will be responsible for executive management and oversight of all of Lucent's financial operations.

“I enjoy the passion and velocity of a high tech company,” said Hopkins in a statement. “And Lucent is at the center of one of the fastest growing industries today. When I was offered the opportunity to join Lucent and Rich McGinn’s senior team, I couldn’t pass it up.” McGinn is Lucent’s Chairman. Hopkins will report directly to him.

Hopkins, 45, joined Boeing in 1998.Previously, she served as CFO for General Motors Europe and spent 13 years at Unisys Corp . in several senior management positions. She received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Walsh College in Troy, Michigan.

Hopkins succeeds Lucent’s former CFO Don Peterson. He is now chief executive of a new $8 billion equipment company Lucent plans to spin off later this year.
