Buck Offers Training on HIPAA Rules

April 4, 2013 (PLANSPONSOR.com) – Buck Consultants offers an audit and training program to help employers that sponsor group health plans comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

According to newly finalized federal guidelines, U.S. organizations must be HIPAA compliant and ensure that their workforce is properly trained by September 2013 or face stiff penalties. This mandate—part of January 2013 changes to the HIPAA privacy, security and enforcement regulations—helps to ensure ongoing accountability for the privacy and security of protected health information.

Buck Consultants’ program provides a review of an organization’s current HIPAA privacy and security policies and procedures, privacy notices, business associate agreements, and workforce training resources to determine if the materials are comprehensive and touch on the key requirements of the federal mandate. If needed, Buck will recommend appropriate actions.

Buck’s digital learning and course academy, available through their Knowledge Resource Center, provides employers a range of learning formats from a self-service training course that organizations can use to deliver training on their own, to a facilitator-led session that can be delivered by webinar or in-person by Buck.

“Group health plans and other HIPAA covered entities should get in front of the September 2013 deadline as soon as possible,” said Tami Simon, managing director, Knowledge Resource Center, at Buck Consultants. “Buck is making it simple for employers to check their current HIPAA compliance status and make appropriate changes.”
