Bush Taps DeRocco for DOL Post

June 25, 2001 (PLANSPONSOR.com) ? President Bush plans to nominate Emily Stover DeRocco as assistant secretary of labor for employment and training.

DeRocco is presently executive director of the National Association of State Workforce Agencies, a Washington, D.C., trade association which represents administrators of state unemployment insurance, employment and training services, and labor market information programs.

She also is chief executive officer of the Center for Employment Security Education and Research, the research arm of that group.

DeRocco holds a bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University and a law degree from Georgetown Law School.

Zurawski Also Tapped

Separately, the Bush Administration has named Paul Zurawski as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy for the Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration of the Department of Labor, effective Monday, June 25, according to the American Benefits Council.

Most recently, Zurawski was a staffer for health and retirement policy issues for The Business Roundtable.
