CEO Turnover Accelerates in December

December 29, 2000 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - More than 100 CEOs left their positions in December, an 85% increase from a year ago according to a new report.

Of the 113 CEOs leaving their jobs this month, most came from The Internet sector, with consumer goods, computer and financial sectors also well-represented, according to recruiter Challenger, Gray & Christmas.

December was the fifth straight month in which more than 100 CEOs left their jobs, mirroring an overall rise in job cut announcements.

In 2000, CEO changes totaled 1,079, with over half (53%) occurring between August and December.
