Ceridian Unveils New Backup Care Program

September 12, 2005 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Ceridian has launched Ceridian Backup Care Solutions - a system through which covered employees can get care for family members both old and young.

According to a Ceridian news release, employers who buy the new offering can give their workers 24-hour access to care specialists who will screen the caller in order to help hook the employee up with the proper network provider.

The announcement said that Ceridian’s network consists of thousands of contracted providers throughout the US from drop-in child care centers to home health care agencies. Work Options Group, working on behalf of Ceridian, manages every aspect of the program, including scheduling of care and payments to providers, according to the announcement.

For some, getting services through the new offering will mean having a caregiver come to their home to care for a sick child or adult. Others will get the help they need to care for an older child during school vacation or for a parent in another city or state who is recovering from surgery.

Employers that purchase the service elect to subsidize some or all of the costs for care, Ceridian said. According to Ceridian, this service is particularly well suited for employers with employees in multiple locations and for employers who must maintain very strong attendance levels, such as health care providers, time-sensitive banking and financial services professionals, and manufacturing employers.
