CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME – CIO Craig Departs Janus to Run Foundation
August 9, 2000 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Janus Chief
Investment Officer and Director of Research Jim Craig, 44,
will leave the firm at the end of September to manage money
for a new charitable foundation established by him and his
wife.

The move comes in the wake of the spin-off of Stilwell Financial, and a year in which 15 of the 18 retail stock and bond funds have underperformed their category averages.
“I’ve spent half my life making money for other people to retire and send their kids to college,” Craig said. “I’m looking forward to using my skill in making money for this new pursuit.”
The Craig Family Foundation will be based in Denver and Mrs. Craig will be its President. The Foundation’s mission will be to significantly impact the lives of those facing disadvantage in the local community.
Janus’ Executive Investment Committee, a group formed by Craig over a year ago, will assume Craig’s responsibilities, including the day-to-day management of the investment team.
Craig joined Janus in May 1983 as an analyst.
