CO Firm Gives 'Paws' for New Benefit Program

August 4, 2009 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Workers who get an employer's help in being kind to their four-footed friends are more likely to be loyal to their organizations as well.

At least that’s the pitch for an unusual workplace employee benefit program from a Boulder, Colorado-based dog kennel chain.

According to a news release, Camp Bow Wow offers to employees its “401-K-9” program with day and overnight boarding services from more than 95 locations with another 115 additional sites under development around the country and in Canada. Providing its services as an employee benefit can help employers attract and retain workers, the company said.

Employees of participating clients will receive a systemwide 10% discount on all boarding, doggy day care, and in-home pet care services; a 5% discount on all product sales; and any additional promotions offered by a local Camp Bow Wow franchisee.

The announcement said the program requires no employer contribution and the company supplies an account manager to work with each client.
