Covill Returns to Mercer to Assist With Benefits Exchange

October 25, 2012 (PLANSPONSOR.com) Chris Covill has rejoined Mercer to create new benefit offerings for active employees.

In his new role as exchange product leader, Covill will be responsible for the design and deployment of new products to be offered to clients through a private exchange product suite. Covill will report to Sharon Cunninghis, U.S. leader of Mercer’s Health and Benefits business, and will be based in Atlanta.

Cunninghis said Mercer offers its clients an array of opportunities for cost reduction, including using a “defined contribution” model, which will allow employers to continue providing health coverage but without the open-ended costs of traditional arrangements. Mercer’s product suite includes a full array of corporate-sponsored “core” medical, life, disability and voluntary benefits.

Covill returns to Mercer following a brief hiatus at AFLAC, where he was president and CEO of AFLAC Benefits Solutions. He previously served as the national specialty practice leader for Mercer Integrated Benefits, responsible for building and implementing integrated benefits strategies for Mercer’s brokerage and consulting customers.

Covill holds a bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College.
