EEOC Reorganization Moves Past Objection
November 10, 2005 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The second
phase of the reorganization of the Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is on again after a House
appropriations committee member withdrew his
objection.

Thompson.com reports that Representative Frank Wolf (R-Virginia) had put a hold on the plan until a report was released by the Government Accountability Office (GAO). The second phase of the plan is to downgrade eight district offices, headed by senior executives or GS-15-level regional attorneys, to field offices, directed by GS-15-level managers or GS-14-level supervisory trial attorneys, and add two local offices in Mobile, Alabama and Las Vegas, Nevada (See EEOC Reorganization Approved ).
In its report, according to Thompson, the GAO criticized the commission for not having a more organized approach to its three-phase restructuring plan, which also includes a nationwide call center and headquarters reorganization. Wolf requested regular updates on EEOC’s progress and an ongoing dialogue with its employees’ union.
EEOC officials insist no jobs will be lost as a result of the reorganization.
