Enterprise Tops For College Grad Hiring

February 24, 2004 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Newly minted college graduates looking for their first real job should probably drop their resume off at Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car topped the Top 500 Entry Level Employers for 2004 list released by CollegeGrad.com. The entry-level job Web site projects the rental agency will bring on 6,500 new faces to fill entry-level positions in 2004, according to a news release.

After Enterprise Rent-A-Car, in distant second was Lockheed Martin, with 3,800 projected entry-level hires in 2004, followed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (3,567), Immigration and Naturalization Service (3,000) and Schlumberger (3000). Rounding out the top 10 were:

  • Social Security Administration (3,000)
  • EDS (2,800)
  • Aetna (2,500)
  • Boeing (2,500)
  • Ernst & Young (2,500).

“Entry level hiring is taking a very positive turn in 2004,” Brian Krueger, President of CollegeGrad.com said in a news release. “We are seeing a large increase in the number of entry level jobs available in nearly every discipline. While the market is still very competitive, the jobs are there to be found for those who take the time to do the research.”

Employers listed in the survey results, which are posted at www.CollegeGrad.com/topemployers , are hiring as many as 6,500 new grads and as few as 10. Overall, the list represents more than 120,000 jobs for the graduating class of 2004, with a substantial 12.9% increase in hiring versus 2003.
