Executives Feel Wellness Programs Boost Productivity

Executives polled say healthier employees are more productive than non-healthy employees.

Nintey-three percent of senior-level executives say living a healthy lifestyle can prevent employees from feeling burned out, according to a poll conducted by Harris Poll on behalf of Virgin Pulse.

Eighty-three percent of executives say employee wellness programs can prevent employees from feeling burned out. In addition, 97% say healthier employees are more productive than non-healthy employees.

However, while nearly nine in 10 respondents (89%) recognize the importance of having the best available well-being programs for their employees, only 74% say their company currently offers employees the best available options. Though effective well-being programs are not ubiquitous yet by any means, the survey results are encouraging, Virgin Pulse says.

“As managers, we have to commit to helping our employees live healthy, less stressful lifestyles. Employee well-being isn’t just about lowering blood pressure or quitting smoking. It’s about helping employees find balance and replenish what life’s hectic pace depletes on a daily basis,” says Chris Boyce, CEO of Virgin Pulse.

Virgin Pulse is a provider of employee well-being tools and services, with more than 250 clients representing more than 2 million employees. More information about the firm is at www.virginpulse.com.

The survey was conducted within the United States from February 6 to 25 among a total of 301 corporate executives at companies with revenue of $1 billion or more.
