Federated Shuffles Investment Units

August 29, 2002 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Federated Investors has formed new global equity and fixed income units, and named a new chief investment officer for each.

An Federated announcement said Stephen Auth, 46, who joined the firm in May 2000 from Prudential Investments, is now head of Global Equity. The unit includes domestic and international stock mutual funds, separate account and managed account products.

Federated also hired James Gordon, Jr., 41, as director of quantitative analysis for the Global Equity unit. Gordon has been head of quantitative research responsible for the US equity division at J. P. Morgan Investment Management.

Meanwhile William Dawson, 53, a 27-year Federated veteran, has been named head of Global Fixed-Income. The unit consists of domestic and international fixed income and high yield products and separate and managed account fixed income portfolios.

Auth and Dawson report to Keith Schappert, who remains president and chief executive officer for Federated’s investment advisory companies.

Federated had $185 billion in assets under management as of June 30.
