Form M-1 Published in Federal Register

December 19, 2001 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The US Department of Labor (DoL)'s Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration (PWBA) will publish the Year 2001 Form M-1 annual report for multiple employer welfare arrangements (MEWAs) in the Federal Register.

The form, which plan administrators are generally required to file annually, is the same as the year 2000 form.

MEWAs offer medical benefits to the employees of two or more employers, or to their beneficiaries. These arrangements may not include plans that are established or maintained:

· under collective bargaining agreements,
· by a rural electric cooperative, or
· by a rural telephone cooperative association

The Year 2001 form due March 1, 2002, but administrators can request an automatic 60-day extension to May 1, 2002.
