Ill Workers Told to Stay Home

May 4, 2009 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Most companies responding to a recent poll have instructed employees with any flu-like or cold symptoms to take sick days or work from home.

ComPsych, an employee assistance program provider, said it surveyed the HR contacts at its client companies about the impact of the current scare about the H1N1/swine flu on the workplace.

Some 61.6% of respondents said they were taking a hard line on ailing employees coming into the office, but only 21% said they were likewise barring from the office employees with family members who had been exposed or could have been exposed.

Some 33.7% said they did not bar employees with potential family member exposure.
