Janus Announces Addition to Retirement Strategy Group
As director and senior retirement specialist, Sommer is responsible for enhancing Janus’s service to the firm’s clients in the tax-advantaged marketplace. He will also serve as a resource and advocate for retirement issues across the firm.
Sommer reports to Russ Shipman, senior vice president and managing director of the Retirement Strategy Group.
According to the announcement, prior to joining Janus, Sommer was executive director of Thought Leadership & Professional Development with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. During his 17 years with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Sommer also served in leadership roles with the Global Wealth Management, Professional Development, and Retirement Planning groups.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Rhode Island and a master’s degree in business administration from Pace University.
