Lord Abbett Beefs Up Equity Management Team

December 16, 2003 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Lord Abbett & Co. LLC., has brought on a five-member team of equity managers from Credit Suisse Asset Management to run the firm's international large-cap equity investments.

According to a Lord Abbett announcement, Harold Sharon and Vincent McBride join Lord Abbett as Director of International Core Equity and Senior Portfolio Manager, respectively. Previously with Warburg Pincus Asset Management/Credit Suisse Asset Management, they established Warburg Pincus’ International Core Equity products. Sharon has over 20 years of international investment experience and McBride 17 years.

In addition to Sharon and McBride, the International Core team members joining the Jersey City, New Jersey-based Lord Abbett include Todd Jacobson, Todor Petrov and Yarek Aranowicz. Jacobson has been in the investment business since 1988 and was recently a co-manager for international funds at Warburg Pincus/CSAM and had been the head of Japanese equities for Credit Suisse in Tokyo.

Petrov has been in the investment business since 1998, worked on the International Equity team at Credit Suisse, and was co-manager of a global sector fund. Aranowicz, in the investment business since 1991, was recently lead portfolio manager for a number of Credit Suisse global equity funds.

The firm said the new managers were a good fit for their investing approach. Similar to Lord Abbett’s, their philosophy is based on a disciplined investing that stresses fundamental, bottom-up research to identify companies trading at a significant discount to their intrinsic business value in an attempt to deliver consistent performance, according to the Lord Abbett announcement,

As of November 30, 2003, Lord Abbett had $68.2 billion in assets under management with 600 employees.
