Mercer Announces New Resource on Employee Mindset

September 20, 2011 (PLANSPONSOR.com) – Mercer and the Big Think Web site have announced the launch of a special series entitled, “Inside Employees’ Minds.”

Hosted by Big Think and sponsored by Mercer, this three-month-long online series will feature business leaders, academics, and other experts offering insights into what motivates employees at work and how to bring back a sense of meaning to the work experience.

According to a Mercer news release, initial contributors include John Mackey, CEO of Whole Foods; Dan Ariely, Professor of Psychology and Behavioral Economics at Duke University; Roger Martin, Dean of the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto; and Jennifer Deal, Ph.D., Senior Research Scientist at the Center for Creative Leadership. Others will be contributing to the Inside Employees’ Minds special series over the next three months.

Headlines that are already part of the series include:

  • “There’s More to Life Than Mojitos on the Beach,”
  • “Millennials Have (and Need) Big Problems to Solve,” and
  • “What Really Happens at Work?”

The series follows Mercer’s recently published What’s Working survey, which found more than half of U.S. workers are seriously considering leaving their current employer or are highly disengaged across a number of key measures (see Half of All U.S. Employees Unsatisfied).
