Michigan Community Restores Employee 457 Plan Match

The Jackson Citizen Patriot reports that the board had voted to remove the 10% matching contribution when employees received a 20% reduction in work hours earlier this year. The contributions will be funded from an increase of $80,000 in state shared revenue over what township officials had planned for 2009-10, the news report said.

Eleven of the 50 eligible township employees participate in the plan, resulting in matching contributions totaling $9,950, according to the Citizen Patriot.

The board voted down a 2% pay increase for non-elected employees for various reasons. One trustee argued that employees should be restored to a 40-hour work week before given a pay increase.
