Mood by Finance, IT Workers Unremarkable in February
In the accounting and finance arena, worker confidence saw a tiny uptick of .4 points in February to 113 on the Index – up from the 110.5 reported a year earlier, according to aHudson news release.
According to the latest data, the number of accounting and finance workers not concerned about losing their jobs rose from 74% in January to 76% in February. While the percentage of workers expecting their firms to hire inched up a point to 35%, the number expecting layoffs also rose four points to 22%.
Meanwhile, confidence among IT workers continued dropping in February, as the sector fell another 4.4 points to 104.6. The Hudson Employment Index for IT workers also showed that:
- One-third (33%) of IT workers indicated that their employers had plans to hire, down from 38% in January.
- The number of workers concerned about job security increased from 22% at the start of the year to 28% in February.
- There was also a measured drop in the percentage of IT workers happy with their jobs – from 75% to 73%.
The overall index, which surveys about 9,000 workers nationwide, was up 5.6% to 108.2, according toHudson.
