NASDAQ Recomputes June 29 Closing Indices

July 9, 2001 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The NASDAQ Stock Market has announced the recomputed closing prices for the NASDAQ indices for Friday, June 29, 2001, affecting the performance calculations for the NASDAQ Composite.

The recomputation changes the quarter-end value for the NASDAQ Composite from 2,160.54 to 2,161.24. As a result, the performance numbers for the index for the first six months of 2001 are:

  • Year-to-date ? a loss of 12.52%, rather than the 12.55% loss initially recorded
  • Quarter-to-date ? a 17.44% gain, rather than the 17.40% initially reported
  • Month-to-date ? a 2.40% gain, rather than the 2.37% originally calculated

The recomputation was the result of adjustments to the reported Friday, June 29, closing prices for 51 securities. Those repricing adjustments were made over the last week. The corrected values for other NASDAQ indices are as follows:

  • NASDAQ Industrial – 1516.34
  • NASDAQ Bank – 2105.97
  • NASDAQ Insurance – 2280.55
  • NASDAQ Other Financial – 2590.69
  • NASDAQ Transportation – 1243.06
  • NASDAQ Telecommunication – 311.62
  • NASDAQ Computer – 1084.36
  • NNM*Composite – 981.97
  • NNM*Industrial – 624.52
  • NASDAQ Financial 100 – 2069.98
  • NASDAQ Bio Tech – 1013.75

The 51 repriced securities are noted on http://www.nasdaqtrader.com .

According to NASDAQ, the corrected values for the NASDAQ 100 Index, which also was restated, was previously reported on Monday, July 2nd.
