New Online HR Course from Cornell

January 28, 2002 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Human Resources professionals may now brush up on their job skills through a new online class from Cornell University.

“Fundamentals of Employee Benefits” follows “Human Resources and the Law” in a six-part series from Cornell’s online institute, eCornell . Completing the half-dozen courses can lead to a Human Resources Studies Certificate, the University said in a press release.

Each four-week section is limited to 20 students and will include the services of an instructor.

Students spend approximately three to four hours of online class time each week. Technical support is provided.

According to the Cornell press release, “Fundamentals of Employee Benefits” shows how to understand benefits plans and communicate them to employees. The program touches on welfare, retirement, and flexible-benefits concepts.

Also:

  • the new class uses a problem-centered approach that demonstrates key principles,
  • simulations and case studies are provided online via video and other multimedia technologies, and
  • the course includes many resources that may be downloaded or printed out for later use on the job
