New Partnership Debuts CDHP in Illinois

October 28, 2003 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Benefits managers have a new consumer-driven health plan (CDHP) to consider from a new partnership of the Guardian Life Insurance Company of America and Destiny Health.

According to a news release, the joint venture will debut the CDHP in Illinois and then roll it out further in other selected US markets. Richard White, Guardian senior vice president for Group Insurance said the CDHP encourages policyholders to help cut health-care costs.

Ken Linde, president and CEO of Oak Brook, Illinois-based Destiny Health said that his parent company, Discovery Health, has been offering the CDHP for more than a decade, with a current total of more than 1.5 million members in the US and South Africa.

Guardian is the fourth largest US mutual life insurance company, according to the announcement.
