Oregon to Put Out Jobless Payments Through ATMs

January 16, 2003 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Some jobless Oregon residents will soon be able to get their unemployment benefits from their local US Bank ATM.

The Associated Press reported that the state is piloting a program to dispense the jobless payments through bank automated teller machines (ATM) – in this case US Bank. People drawing unemployment will get a debit card and a pin number so they can get their cash from an ATM.

A spokesman for the Oregon Employment Department says the state will save money by cutting fewer checks and paying less in postage.
