Participants See No Improvement in Managed Care

Forty-eight percent of the respondents to Kaiser’s Health Poll Report said not much in the way of positive change has happened for managed care plans in the past few years, while 29% say the problems have gotten worse. Only 12% thought the system has improved.

However, participants are not so apt to take matters into their own hands as they were three years ago. Pointing to the June 2004 Supreme Court decision that overturned a Texas law giving patients the right to sue their health plans for damages in state court, only 57% of those polled said they would favor a law giving people the right to sue, compared to 69% that answered the same in 2001.
