PeopleSoft Releases HR Management Product

December 9, 2004 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - PeopleSoft has announced the release of PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Resource Management Solution 8.9, which manages workforce issues including contingent, absence and talent acquisition management.

The software maker has released the product with over 250 new enhancements, according to the company in a press release. The new program offers:

  • “Person” model architecture that allows organizations to manage all workforce data in a single repository through a single ID during an employee’s tenure.
  • An application that tracks all employee absences in a single interface, even for international companies.
  • A Talent Acquisition Manager application that allows employers to improve search capabilities and to better track potential job candidates.

In testing, users found on average a 20% reduction in implementation time, a 23% increase in task completion, and a 16% reduction in time across 18 separate tasks, the company said in the announcement.

PeopleSoft is currently fighting a hostile takeover bid from Oracle, one of their main competitors. Most recently,  Oracle has said 61% of PeopleSoft shares have been tendered to endorse a $24-per-share offer, but the company must still overcome PeopleSoft’s anti-takeover defenses in order to carry out the acquisition. The two groups are fighting in Delaware court regarding what Oracle views as illegitimate takeover defenses erected by PeopleSoft (See Oracle PeopleSoft Battle Set for Courtroom Return ).
