Principal Adds to Support for High Risk Infants

PFG’s announcement said the program pairs ParadigmHealth’s neonatologists, neonatal nurse care managers, and pediatric specialists with parents to help them make more informed decisions regarding their infant’s care.   Each family is assigned a care manager who works in collaboration with physicians and nurses in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to provide information to parents.

The care manager also assists in preparing the family for the hospital discharge and future infant care. Throughout the first two weeks at home, according to the announcement, ParadigmHealth follows up with the infant’s parents to make sure things are going as planned and to answer any additional questions.

The program is available through Principal Life Insurance Company at no additional cost for insured health plans and on an employer-elected fee basis for self-funded plans.   More information can be found at  www.principal.com .
