Principal Names New Retirement Sales Chief

March 2, 2005 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The Principal Financial Group has tapped Tim Minard as senior vice president for retirement distribution among several other executive appointments announced Wednesday.

A Principal news release said that the group of appointments, which were effective Tuesday, included Minard’s being named to runall aspects of Principal’s domestic retirement distribution and sales operation.

Minard joined the company in 1986 and most recently served as vice president – National Sales Director of Retirement Services – a post he held since 1999. A native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Minard earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Iowa.

Also receiving a senior vice president nod was Carey Jury, who was appointed to head Principal’s group medical insurance, the administrative services only and wellness businesses, according to the announcement. Jury joined the company in 1988 as director – Claims and most recently served as senior global expansion manager and managing director to lead the company’s acquisition strategy into Australia and became executive vice president of The Principal’s Australian subsidiary. A native of San Diego, California, Jury received his bachelor’s degree from Drake University.

Finally, Deanna Strable-Soethout was named senior vice president – Specialty Benefits where she will be responsible for the group life, disability, dental and vision and individual disability lines of business. Strable joined the company in 1990 and most recently serviced as vice president – Disability in 2002. A native of Prole, Iowa, Strable received her bachelor degree from Northwestern University.
