Significant Difference Exists in CEO Salaries Based on Business Size

November 30, 2007 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The national median salary for a small business CEO is $233,500, according to Salary.com's 2007 Small Business Executive Compensation Survey.

This compares to a national median salary for a CEO at a company with 500-5000 employees of $500,000 and $849,375 for CEOs at companies with over 5000 employees, Salary.com said in a press release.

The 2007 Small Business Executive Compensation Survey, which includes data from more than 2,200 organizations representing more than 75 industries throughout the United States. reports on 12 key job functions including:

  • Sales,
  • Marketing,
  • Product Development,
  • Administrative,
  • Manufacturing,

Data in the survey report is also broken down by ownership type, organization size, industry, and geographic location.
