SRI Trends Documented By SRI World Group

May 8, 2002 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Advocates of socially responsible investing (SRI) have a new place to gain an international view of major developments in the trend.

SRI World Group has released its Leading Social Investment Indicators Report, which examines major developments during 2001 involving:

  • socially screened mutual funds
  • corporate governance efforts
  • shareowner advocacy
  • community investing
  • corporate social research
  • academic research.

The document includes a review of corporate governance developments which focuses on the growing interest in corporate governance rating systems.

The report also points out that shareholders voted on more social and environmental resolutions than they had since 1992. The publication explains which money management firms filed resolutions on what issues, and identifies the large institutional investors that are becoming more active shareowners.

As for financial performance of social investments, the report offers a detailed analysis of socially screened mutual funds that includes information such as fund percentile rankings.  The report also summarizes the year’s most important academic research related to social investment, much of which is concerned with financial performance.

The report is one of a series of new products offered through www.ishareowner.com , a website designed for institutional investors and financial professionals
