Survey: 2008 Job Outlook for New Grads is Bright

January 30, 2008 (PLANSPONSOR.COM) - Sixty percent of the employers listed on an entry level job search Web site plan to step up their hiring in 2008 over 2007.

According to, 21% of the employers said they will hire the same number of new grads while 19% plan entry level hiring cutbacks.

Prominent on the Web site’s Top 500 Entry Level Employers for 2008 is Enterprise Rent-A-Car, which plans to hire 8,500 new grads, a news release from said.

Among the largest companies, Progressive Insurance is projecting a 42% increase in entry level hiring for 2008. Fund for Public Interest Research is projecting a 260% growth in hiring – from 125 entry level hires in 2007 to 450 in 2008.

“This is an impressive number of openings for 2008,” said Brian Krueger, President of, in the news release. “Even in the midst of a challenging economy, college grads are in very high demand, and employers are competing to attract top skilled candidates in all industries.”

The list details the 2008 entry level hiring plans for employers nationwide and includes links to the home page, careers page, and college page for each employer, the announcement said. Each employer page also details projections for intern hires and master’s level hires for the 2008 recruiting year.
