Survey Finds Baby Boomers Least Favored Coworkers

May 26, 2011 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - A new survey has revealed that baby boomers are the colleagues that employees least want to work with.

According to news reports, Leadership Management Australasia’s Generations survey of 744 workers found only 4% of Generation X and Y staff most want to work with boomers, preferring their own generation at 57% and 53% each.

Only 17% of baby boomers want to work with staff their own age, while 40% want to work with Gen-Xers.

The study found this is because baby boomers fail to communicate well with their colleagues. The news reports said a lack of respect and understanding and not recognising the needs of other generations are the reasons for difficult and ineffective relationships between the generations.
