Survey Finds High Dissatisfaction Among Execs

December 12, 2006 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - A survey from executive career management and recruiting network ExecuNet has found nearly three in four executives are dissatisfied with their work.

According to an ExecuNet press release, the survey of 102 employed executives with an average salary of $192,000 found 73% said they are “somewhat unsatisfied” or “not satisfied” with their current job. This is up from 67% who said the same in December 2005.

Of those who report dissatisfaction, 87% said they are planning to leave their company within the next six months, the release said. The most common reasons for dissatisfaction respondents cited were:

  • Lack of challenge or personal growth, 14.2%,
  • Limited opportunity for advancement, 13.9%, and
  • Unfavorable company prospects, 11.4%.

“Eroding corporate loyalty and a very tight job market are a dangerous duo for Corporate America,” said Dave Opton, CEO and Founder of ExecuNet, in the release. “Companies that fail to keep their executives engaged are essentially creating an attractive candidate pipeline for competitors.”
