Survey Finds Lunch 'Hour' is a Myth

May 17, 2006 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - A survey from KFC has found that the leisurely lunch hour is a thing of the past.

According to a news release, while lunch hours were once used to run errands or recharge employees’ batteries, more than 50% of employees surveyed report they now take 30 minutes or less for lunch in an effort to get more work done.

More than 60% of office workers surveyed said the 60-minute lunch is the biggest myth of office life.

In addition, 58% of respondents admitted to eating lunch at their desks while continuing to work. More than half said they spend their lunch eating, running errands, shopping online and checking e-mails.

KFC’s survey of more than 1,000 office workers was conducted by Impulse Research in May 2006.
