SURVEY SAYS: What’s Your Favorite Date Movie?

February 11, 2010 (PLANSPONSOR.com - With luck, you know this already – but Sunday is Valentine’s Day.

For this week’s bonus question I asked readers to share their favorite “date movie” – even if they weren’t still dating.

Among the most popular (or at least most cited) movies were:

50 First Dates

Casablanca

Love Actually

The Notebook

The Princess Bride

Pretty Woman

Say Anything

Sleepless in Seattle

When Harry Met Sally

Others noted were:

Caddy Shack

Dr. Strangelove

Fireproof

Gone with the Wind

It's Complicated

Mama Mia

Moonstruck

On Golden Pond

Persuasion

Return to Me

Roman Holiday from the classic movie pile.

Singles

Something About Mary

Stranger Than Fiction is a great date movie...intelligent, sweet and romantic.

The Wedding Date

Titanic

There were, of course, some fun verbatims (and some interesting back stories) as well:

At this stage of my life following two marriages, one divorce, one death......  I think "It's Complicated" fits!

Anything with Matthew McConaughey; my wife can't get enough of him.

At risk of dating myself, I would have to say, "Say Anything" with John Cussack.

Crossing Delancy (our actual first date).  We've been married 20 years on 2/17, so it worked!  Good movie too...

I only made out during E.T.  BTW, did he get home?

You've Got Mail - Hubby and i met 13 years ago over the Internet. We both still watch this one and smile.

It's a toss between Casablanca and Roman Holiday.  And no, I haven't dated for a long time and I don't miss it one bit. I am happily married to a wonderful guy who I've known for almost 30 years.

It's been so long since I've dated, I can't even think of a date movie to name!

“The good, the bad, and the ugly.  It's long, so you get to spend more time together, and since the title accurately describes the majority of relationships, I think it's quite apropos”.

But this week’s Editor’s Choice goes to the reader who noted, “Any movie is my favorite when I'm out with my sweetie!”

Thanks to everyone who participated in our bonus survey!
