Tar Heels Looking for Retirement System Director

December 15, 2010 (PLANSPONSOR.com) – The State of North Carolina is looking for a Director of Retirement Systems. 

 

According to a posting on the National Association of State Retirement Administrators (NASRA) web site, the executive level position is responsible for administration of North Carolina Retirement Systems and benefit programs managed by the Department of State Treasurer. 

The position manages all administrative operations including services to members and retirees, and provides leadership for more than 150 staff members and leads efforts to continuously improve delivery of efficient and effective services”, according to the posting.  Additionally, the posting notes that the Director serves the retirement Boards of Trustees and the North Carolina General Assembly in establishing policy and law concerning the administration of the programs and represents the Boards of Trustees before the Governor, the General Assembly, executive agencies, public employees, City/County Administrators, School Superintendents, and the public at large.  This position is exempt policy-making.

The state’s retirement systems provide retirement benefits and savings for more than 820,000 active and retired North Carolinians, including teachers, state employees, fire fighters, police officers, and other public workers.
