October 11, 2011 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Today marks the anniversary of the first episode of Saturday Night Live – except that that first episode wasn’t called Saturday Night Live.

In fact, it wasn’t called that until 1977.  What was the show called initially?

Answer:  NBC’s Saturday Night.

It was called that because there was another show on ABC at the time called Saturday Night Live with Howard Cosell.  NBC eventually purchased the naming rights, and since 1977 the NBC version has been called Saturday Night Live.
