TUESDAY TRIVIA: What Did Britain’s Queen Elizabeth Do in the Armed Forces?

You might not know that Queen Elizabeth joined a division of the armed forces when she was a teenager.

In 1942, when she was 16, Britain’s Queen Elizabeth registered with the Labour Exchange—a British employment agency.  Through that, she joined a division of the women’s armed forces—the Auxiliary Territorial Service.

What did she do there?

She was a truck mechanic. She learned how to change a wheel, deconstruct and rebuild engines, and drive ambulances and other vehicles.
