Working America Launches Company Info Database

November 18, 2005 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Working America, an affiliate of the AFL-CIO, has launched an online database of information on companies that the group claims export jobs and violate workers' rights.

The Associated Press reports that Jessica Smith, a spokeswoman for Working America, said the site also lists CEO salaries and firms that have broken federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines.

Much of the information in the database was obtained through Freedom of Information Act requests, according to the AP. The site organizes information geographically, allowing users to enter their ZIP codes to get results for companies in their areas.

Working America, based in Washington, was formed in August 2003 by the AFL-CIO to help nonunion workers learn their rights.

The database can be reached here .
