Blondes go Brunette in Bid for Workplace Respect

A news report in the Telegraph newspaper said62% of 2,500 U.K. women in a new survey think brunettes look more professional than blondes in the workplace. The poll was commissioned by Superdrug, the U.K.’ssecond-largest health and beauty retailer.

So, more women across the pond are shedding their fair hair color – 31% of blonde women have gone brunette, which they say is intended to make them appear more intelligent in the office.

Some 38% of those going brunette say the move has earned them more respect from their supervisor.

Generally, 38% of fair-haired women believe their hair color has held them back in their career in the past.

“The current economic climate is obviously making women take more care with their appearance at work, even down to their hair color,” noted Superdrug spokesman Dan Hadley, which commissioned the study.”The study shows brunettes do seem to be taken more seriously in the workplace which is causing a rise in fair headed women darkening their locks.”
