Ceridian Weighs In With Bariatric Surgery Coaching Service

February 21, 2007 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Ceridian LifeWorks, along with its recently acquired health-coaching firm, Leade Health, has announced a new bariatric surgery health-coaching service.

The program is designed to identify individuals who are willing and able to make the eating and physical activity modifications necessary to help ensure success following bariatric surgery.

The prevalence of obesity has doubled in that past 25 years, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and experts predict a steady rise in coming years, according to a Ceridian press release.

As a result, the instances of bariatric surgery are on the rise. To optimize surgery outcomes, participants must adopt healthy habits such as eating well and increasing physical activity before bariatric surgery and continue these habits for life.

Ceridian says that most experts agree that there is a strong need for a pre-treatment program focused on lifestyle behaviors, and that theie Bariatric Surgery Management uses that model – offering coaching pre and post surgery and identifying the candidates who are most able to adapt their lifestyle to ensure on-going success.

Ceridian acquired Ann Arbor Michigan-based Leade Health in November 2006. Leade was founded in 1990 and specializes in health coaching in the areas of weight management, stress management, tobacco cessation and cardiovascular health. Leade Health’s success rates from its signature health coaching model achieve results that exceed national norms.
